Home / How verification works
The badge can't be bought. Only earned.
Every trust mark on this site traces back to public federal data — here's exactly how.
What we check
Before any carrier earns the VERIFIED badge, Station Bus Nation confirms its record against the U.S. Department of Transportation's public FMCSA SAFER database:
- Active USDOT number and operating authority — the company is federally registered to carry passengers, right now, not just once upon a time.
- Insurance on file — federally required coverage is current with the FMCSA.
- Safety record — the carrier's FMCSA safety rating and inspection history meet our standard.
Every VERIFIED profile shows the receipts: the USDOT number, insurance status, safety rating, and when we last checked. Tap "Why trusted?" on any carrier card to see them.
The three trust levels
LISTED
A real company with a public DOT record, not yet through our full verification. Still searchable, still welcome — clearly labeled so you can decide.
VERIFIED
Active authority, insurance on file, and a safety record we've confirmed against federal data. The core Station Bus Nation standard.
PREMIER
Everything in Verified, plus a sustained review record and response-time standard. The carriers who go beyond.
Reviews you can believe
Customer reviews marked Verified trip come from customers who actually completed a trip requested through Station Bus Nation. That mark can't be purchased, edited, or removed by the carrier — or by us.
We never touch your money
Station Bus Nation is a directory, not a broker. You book and pay the bus company directly. No markup, no middleman, no one to blame but the people actually driving — which is exactly why we check who they are first.
See something wrong?
If any carrier's information looks off, report it — a human investigates every flag within one business day.
