Home / How verification works

The badge can't be bought. Only earned.

Verification is rolling out one company at a time — here's what the badge means and how an operator earns it.

What we check

Before any carrier earns the VERIFIED badge, Station Bus Nation confirms its record against the U.S. Department of Transportation's public FMCSA SAFER database:

  • Active USDOT number and operating authority — the company is federally registered to carry passengers, right now, not just once upon a time.
  • Insurance on file — federally required coverage is current with the FMCSA.
  • Safety record — the carrier's FMCSA safety rating and inspection history meet our standard.

Every VERIFIED profile shows the receipts: the USDOT number, insurance status, safety rating, and when we last checked. Tap "Why trusted?" on any carrier card to see them.

Listed, verified, and member — three different things

These get mixed up constantly, and the difference matters, so here it is plainly.

LISTED

Every bus company in our coverage area is listed, because a USDOT record is public information. Being listed is not a membership, not an endorsement, and nobody paid for it — including the companies that have never heard of us.

VERIFIED

A check against the public federal record: active operating authority, insurance on file with the FMCSA, and the safety rating. It cannot be bought, because we are only reading what the government already publishes.

MEMBER

A company that pays for a Station Bus Nation membership. There is one membership and every member gets all of it. It is not a trust level and it is not a rank — paying us tells you nothing about how well somebody drives.

Verification is not switched on yet. We are building the community first. When it opens it will use public federal records only — nothing an operator has to dig out of their own filing cabinet, and nothing they can pay us to change.

Reviews you can believe

Customer reviews marked Verified trip come from customers who actually completed a trip requested through Station Bus Nation. That mark can't be purchased, edited, or removed by the carrier — or by us.

We never touch your money

Station Bus Nation is a directory, not a broker. You book and pay the bus company directly. No markup, no middleman. When verification opens, the badge will tell you which companies have been checked against the federal record.

See something wrong?

If any carrier's information looks off, report it — a human investigates every flag within one business day.
